Oxon Hill notes
Freezers in Oxon Hill homes
A request from Alexandria's West End, listed on this page, was a Frigidaire whose freezer wasn't cold enough, with soft ice cream and an ice maker that only worked some of the time. Soft ice cream is an early sign. At 0°F it stays firm; at 10 or 15 degrees it softens long before other food seems affected.
That combination usually points to airflow: an evaporator fan that's slowing, a defrost problem starting, a worn door seal or dusty condenser coils. The ice maker slows too, because it depends on the same cold air.
Townhouse garages in Oxon Hill sometimes hold a standalone freezer. If it isn't rated for garage temperatures, summer heat makes it run constantly, and it may still drift warm.
Keep a thermometer in the freezer. It tells you about a problem days before the food does.
If the freezer is part of a refrigerator, the fresh-food side often warms too, since its cold air comes from the freezer. Watching both temperatures tells us where the airflow stops.
