Stove and Appliance Installation in DC, Northern VA & MD
Appliance Surgeon installs stoves, ranges, cooktops, dishwashers, washers, dryers and microwaves across Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and nearby Maryland. We remove the old unit, connect the new one to gas, water or power, test it and take the old one away. You get a quote before work begins.
Wall ovens: gas and electric, fitted to the cabinet opening, connected and tested. A built-in oven needs a second technician on site, as explained under how installation is priced.
Refrigerators: placement, leveling, door-swing check and ice maker water line connection and testing.
Wine coolers: freestanding or built-in fitment, venting configuration and function testing.
Old appliance haul-away is included. Mention it when booking so the crew arrives ready to remove the replaced unit.
Stoves and ranges
Stove and range installation
We install gas and electric stoves, also called ranges, in place of the one you have now.
Electric stoves. New electric ranges usually ship without a power cord. We fit a 240V cord that matches your outlet, three-prong or four-prong.
Gas stoves. We check the shut-off, connect the range, replace the flexible connector when needed and leak-test every gas connection before we leave.
Anti-tip bracket. New ranges come with a bracket that holds a back foot, so the range cannot tip forward if someone leans on the open door. We fit it and check that the foot engages.
Old unit and testing. We remove the old stove, level the new one, test each burner or element and the oven, and take the old unit away. If your stove only needs a part, see stove and range repair.
Cooktops
Gas cooktop installation
A gas cooktop drops into a countertop cutout, so we check the fit first.
Cutout fit check. Send the model number and a photo of the opening when you book. We check the cutout and clearances against the model's spec sheet and tell you before the visit if they do not match.
Gas connection and leak test. We connect the cooktop, replace the flexible connector when needed and leak-test every gas connection.
Power for the igniters. Most gas cooktops plug into a standard outlet under the counter to power the spark igniters. We light every burner to check ignition and flame.
Wall oven below. If a wall oven sits below, the spec sheet says whether that pairing is allowed and what clearance it needs. If you replace a built-in oven at the same time, it needs a second technician. For a cooktop that will not light, see cooktop repair.
Dishwashers
Dishwasher installation
A replacement dishwasher goes into the opening the old one leaves, on the same water, drain and power.
Water supply and drain. We connect the supply line and run the drain hose with a proper high loop under the sink, so dirty water from the sink cannot flow back into the tub.
Electrical. Some dishwashers are wired into a junction box, others plug into an outlet under the sink. We connect the new one the way your kitchen is set up.
Leveling and door alignment. We level the dishwasher, align the door with the cabinets, secure it in the opening and run a full function check with the connections in view.
The old dishwasher is removed and hauled away. If yours may only need a pump or a latch, see dishwasher repair first.
Laundry
Washer and dryer installation
Side by side or stacked, we connect the pair, level it and run both machines before we leave.
Washers. We fit new fill hoses, set the drain hose in the standpipe or laundry sink, remove the shipping bolts on front-loaders and level the machine so it runs quietly on spin.
Dryers. We connect the dryer to the vent duct. A clogged vent run is a fire risk, as our dryer vent guide explains. Electric dryers get a cord that matches the outlet. Gas dryers are connected with the flexible connector replaced when needed, and every gas connection is leak-tested.
Stacked pairs. We fit the stacking kit and level the pair. A stacked pair needs a second technician on site, so the quote includes a $100 assistant charge.
An over-the-range microwave hangs on the wall and bolts through the cabinet above it.
Wall plate and top bolts. We fasten the mounting plate into the studs, drill the upper cabinet from the model's template and bolt the microwave up through it.
Venting. With a duct to the outside, we set the blower to exhaust through it. Without one, the microwave recirculates the air through a charcoal filter.
Power and testing. The cord plugs into an outlet in the upper cabinet. We test heating, the fan and the light.
Built-in microwaves. A microwave built into a wall cabinet or an oven stack needs a second technician on site, which carries the $100 assistant charge. For one that runs but does not heat, see microwave repair.

How installation is priced
Every installation is quoted before work begins. There is no flat fee, because the work depends on the appliance and the space.
Send the model you bought and a photo of the space when you book. These are the things that set the price:
The appliance. Its type and whether it is freestanding, built-in or stacked.
The connections. Gas, water, drain or electrical.
Parts the job needs. For example a new gas connector, fill hoses, a power cord or a stacking kit.
Removal and haul-away. Taking out the old unit and hauling it away is included.
A second technician. Stacked laundry and built-in ovens and microwaves need a second technician on site. That adds a $100 assistant charge, shown on the quote.

How installation works
Four steps from delivery to done
1. Confirm the fit. When you book, share the model you purchased and a photo of the space. We confirm dimensions, connections and anything the job needs before the visit.
2. Remove the old unit. We disconnect power, water or gas safely, protect floors and cabinetry, and move the old appliance out.
3. Install and connect. The new appliance is placed, leveled and connected: water, drain, electrical or gas with a leak test. We use new connectors where the job calls for them.
4. Test and haul away. We run the appliance through a full function check, walk you through anything worth knowing, and take the old unit with us.

Will you connect the refrigerator water line for the ice maker?
We connect and test the water line and check for leaks before finishing, whether it is a new line or an existing one.
