Samsung refrigerator codes and what to do

Covers owner-facing codes Samsung documents for its US refrigerators (French door, side-by-side, 4-door Flex and Family Hub). Family Hub models add screen-specific codes (41/42, 41C, 85C); the 'xE' sensor and fan codes are shared across lines.

Codes appear on the control panel as numbers, letters, or blinking segments in place of the temperatures (sometimes split across both readouts, e.g. 88 88); Family Hub models can list current and past codes via Fridge Manager > Fridge Settings > Self Check. Samsung asks owners not to unplug or press buttons to clear a code unless its guide says to; where a reset is advised, it's unplugging or switching off the breaker for about 60 seconds.

Safety first. Switch the appliance off at its power button and unplug it or turn off the breaker before you clean a filter or check a hose. If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas utility from outside. If there is a burning smell, smoke, sparking or water near wiring, stop using it and keep it off until it has been checked.
