Who makes Frigidaire
Frigidaire is the volume brand of Electrolux in North America. Electrolux, headquartered in Stockholm, has owned Frigidaire since 1986, and in the US it sells under two names: Frigidaire for the mainstream lines and Electrolux for the premium ones. Electrolux's US factories include a laundry plant in Kinston, North Carolina, a refrigerator plant in Anderson, South Carolina, and a cooking plant in Springfield, Tennessee, and a good part of the Frigidaire range appears to come from those sites.
What tends to fail
Frigidaire refrigerators are mostly top-freezer, side-by-side and French-door models, and the common complaints are a defrost system that lets the evaporator ice over, an evaporator fan that gets noisy or stops, a damper that sticks, and ice makers or water valves that quit. A door alarm or high-temperature beep is a frequent reason to call as well. The technician checks the defrost heater, thermostat and control, clears any ice and replaces the part that failed; sealed-system faults are rarer but cost more.
Frigidaire ranges tend to come in for a bake element that has burned open, a gas oven igniter that has weakened, or a temperature sensor and control board that no longer agree. Dishwashers usually need a drain pump, a float or a door latch, and leaks at the sump are worth checking early. On laundry, front-load washers come in for drain pumps, door locks and bearings; dryers for elements, thermal fuses, rollers and belts. Most of these are single-visit repairs when the part is on the truck.
Parts
Electrolux supplies Frigidaire parts through its own parts organisation and the usual US distributors, and the common elements, igniters, pumps, valves and thermostats are widely stocked. Control boards and door assemblies may need ordering, and parts for older Frigidaire-built Kenmore units often cross over. The technician matches the part to the full model number before quoting and orders only after you approve.
Finding the model number
On a Frigidaire refrigerator the tag is usually inside the fresh-food compartment, on the ceiling or on an upper side wall. Ranges carry it on the frame behind the oven door or inside the storage drawer; dishwashers on the edge of the door; front-load washers inside the door, top-loaders under the lid; dryers inside the door opening; microwaves inside the door frame. Frigidaire model numbers usually begin with letters such as FF, FG or FP, and the serial number is a separate line on the same tag.
Error codes
Frigidaire codes differ by product and by control generation. Our pages for Frigidaire washer codes, Frigidaire dishwasher codes and Frigidaire oven and range codes list the common ones and what they usually mean. Refrigerators show fewer codes and more often beep or flash a temperature display; our Frigidaire beeping alarm guide explains those. Write down the code and tell us when you book; the technician confirms it against the service data for your model.
Frigidaire Gallery and Professional
Gallery and Professional are Frigidaire's higher trim lines rather than different manufacturers; they share most components with the standard range and often with Electrolux-branded models. That helps parts availability, but it also means a Gallery French-door refrigerator or a Professional range can have the same known weak points as its plainer sibling. Give us the full model number so the technician can see which platform the unit is built on.
