Who makes Dacor

Dacor is a California-based maker of built-in luxury cooking and refrigeration, and it has belonged to Samsung Electronics since 2016. Its products are wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, hoods, column and built-in refrigeration, wine storage and dishwashers, largely sold through kitchen designers and specialty dealers. A Dacor in a DC-area kitchen may date from the independent years or from the Samsung era, and the two generations are built differently enough that the tag matters.

What tends to fail

Dacor wall ovens are the most common call, and the usual culprits are the control or relay board, a touch panel or display that stops responding, a door lock motor that will not release, a convection fan that rattles, or a bake element that has burned open. Ranges add the gas side: surface igniters that spark endlessly, spark modules, and oven igniters that grow too weak to open the gas valve. A dual-fuel Dacor can have both electric oven faults and gas burner faults.

Dacor refrigeration and wine units tend to need evaporator fan motors, defrost components, door gaskets, ice maker parts and the occasional control board, with warm temperatures or frost buildup as the first sign. Dishwashers come in for drain pumps, leaks at the door seal and control faults. On any Dacor the technician checks power and the stored fault information first, then tests the suspected part, because board symptoms and sensor symptoms can look alike until the circuit is measured.

Parts

Genuine Dacor parts are supplied through Dacor's parts channel, which since the purchase sits under Samsung. Elements, igniters, spark modules, sensors, gaskets and fan motors are usually obtainable within days. Boards and display assemblies for older, pre-Samsung ovens are the weak spot: some have been discontinued, and a few can be rebuilt or substituted while others cannot. The technician confirms every part against the full model and serial number and quotes it in writing, and if a board is no longer made we tell you before you decide.

Finding the model number

On a Dacor wall oven the tag is on the frame behind the door, usually along the left or right edge, visible once the door is open. Ranges carry it behind the kick panel or storage drawer, or under the control panel lip. Cooktops have it on the underside, refrigerators and wine units inside the cabinet near the top, and dishwashers on the door edge. A photo of the tag sent at booking lets us check parts before the visit.

Error codes

Dacor codes differ between the pre-Samsung ovens and the newer models, and there is no single list that fits them all, so we have no Dacor code page on this site. Write down the exact code and whether it appeared during preheat, self-clean or standby, and whether it returns after the breaker has been off for a minute. The technician checks the code against the service documentation for your model and confirms the fault by measurement before quoting a part.

Two generations of Dacor

Dacor built appliances as an independent California company for decades before Samsung bought it in 2016, and both generations are common in local kitchens. Older units are often fully mechanical on the gas side and board-driven on the oven side; newer ones use Samsung-era electronics and often connected features. Parts rarely cross between the two, and service information differs, so the technician works from the serial number to place your unit before ordering anything.
