Jenn-Air, now written JennAir, is the luxury brand of Whirlpool Corporation. It was a Maytag brand and came to Whirlpool when Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006. The name is best known for downdraft cooktops and ranges, and today it covers built-in wall ovens, column and built-in refrigeration, cooktops and rangetops, dishwashers, speed ovens, ventilation and wine storage. Engineering and parts run through Whirlpool, and some Jenn-Air models share components with KitchenAid.
Downdraft cooktops and ranges are the Jenn-Air call we know best. The blower that pulls smoke down through the grate can fail outright or lose power as grease builds in the duct, the air switch or control that runs it can stick, and on gas versions the spark module and electrodes stop lighting burners. Electric and induction downdraft cooktops bring in burner elements, infinite switches and power boards. The repair usually means lifting the cooktop out of the counter to reach the blower housing and the wiring underneath.
Jenn-Air wall ovens most often come in for a door that will not unlock after self-clean, an oven that will not heat because a relay board, bake element or thermal fuse has failed, a convection fan motor, or a display that has gone dark. Built-in and column refrigerators tend to need evaporator fan motors, defrost components, ice makers and control boards, and models with two separate cooling systems can lose one side while the other runs. Dishwashers are usually pumps and latches; wine coolers fans, thermistors and door seals; and hoods a blower motor or switch.
Jenn-Air parts come through Whirlpool's parts organisation, often under the same numbers used for KitchenAid. Blower motors, igniters, elements and door lock assemblies are usually obtainable within days; relay boards, display boards and refrigeration controls for older models can be back-ordered or discontinued, and a few downdraft cooktop parts for discontinued models are now hard to find at all. The technician identifies the part from the full model number, checks that it is still made, and quotes it in writing before placing the order.
On a Jenn-Air downdraft cooktop the tag is usually on the underside, reachable from the cabinet below, or on a label under a burner grate near the vent. Slide-in ranges carry it under the cooktop or on the frame behind the oven door or drawer. Wall ovens have it on the frame behind the door, visible when the door is open. Built-in refrigerators put it inside the fresh-food compartment, often at the top, or behind the upper grille; wine coolers inside the door; and hoods behind the filters. Attach a photo to the booking.
Jenn-Air ovens and refrigerators show F and E codes whose meaning depends on the model, and a downdraft range can show cooktop faults and oven faults in the same display. Because the controls come from Whirlpool, our Whirlpool range and oven code list and dishwasher code list show the general format. Give us the exact code and when it appears when you book; the technician checks it against the service data for your model and tests before quoting a part.
Whirlpool now writes the brand as JennAir without the hyphen, and newer products, manuals and parts sites use that spelling. Both names refer to the same brand and the same company, so a search under either spelling finds the right service information. Older appliances with the Jenn-Air badge are the same line and are serviced the same way.
A clear brand, model number and symptom history help the technician separate a part failure from installation, use pattern or maintenance conditions.

Note whether the issue is constant, intermittent, cycle-specific or related to heavy use.
Built-in appliances, stacked laundry, tight cabinets and condo access can affect diagnosis and repair planning.
The technician can compare age, condition, parts availability and repair cost before you approve work.
Jenn-Air, now styled JennAir, is Whirlpool Corporation's luxury appliance brand. It came to Whirlpool with the Maytag purchase in 2006 and is built and supported through Whirlpool, with some parts shared with KitchenAid.
Appliance Surgeon services out-of-warranty Jenn-Air built-in and column refrigerators, wall ovens, ranges, cooktops and rangetops, dishwashers, built-in microwaves and speed ovens, hoods and downdraft ventilation, and wine coolers in the Washington, DC area. We are an independent company and not a Jenn-Air warranty servicer.
Appliance Surgeon charges $75 for the diagnostic visit on a Jenn-Air appliance, or $115 for a double unit (such as a double wall oven, washer-dryer combo or stacked laundry), and the fee is credited toward the repair if you approve the quote. For appliance repairs, labor starts at $200 and stays there on about 9 in 10 repairs; more complex jobs can reach $450. Parts are extra and listed in the quote. Typical price ranges by appliance are in our appliance repair cost guide.
Same-day service depends on the day's route and is more likely for a morning call. Many Jenn-Air jobs need a model-specific part, so the first visit is often the diagnosis and the repair follows when the part arrives. We work seven days, 8 AM to 10 PM Monday to Saturday and 10 AM to 10 PM Sunday.
Downdraft cooktops have it on the underside or under a grate near the vent, ranges under the cooktop or behind the door, wall ovens on the frame inside the door, built-in refrigerators inside the top of the fresh-food section or behind the grille, and wine coolers inside the door. A photo of the tag is ideal.
Note the code, the appliance and what it was doing when the code appeared, and pass that on when you book. The technician reads the code with the Whirlpool service data for your model and confirms the fault by testing rather than replacing a board on the strength of the code alone.
A Jenn-Air still under factory warranty should be serviced through the manufacturer's authorised network; we are not part of it. We repair out-of-warranty appliances, and we can diagnose a covered unit and advise you if you want a second opinion before you call the manufacturer.
Usually it is, since replacing a built-in Jenn-Air oven, downdraft range or column refrigerator is a large job that may involve cabinetry. The technician weighs the repair quote against the unit's age, the state of the sealed system on refrigeration and whether the part is still made, and tells you plainly when replacement is the better path.
The technician confirms the part against your full model number, checks availability and lead time with Whirlpool's parts channel, and adds it to the written quote for your approval. If the part is discontinued we look for a compatible substitute before telling you repair is not possible.
Every Appliance Surgeon repair is covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and labor, starting the day the repair is finished. The technician explains the terms before the job is complete.
