Admiral is a Whirlpool Corporation brand in the United States, sold mainly through The Home Depot as budget laundry and refrigeration. It was originally a Maytag brand and came to Whirlpool with the rest of Maytag in 2006. Current Admiral washers, dryers and refrigerators are essentially entry-level Whirlpool designs under a different nameplate, and the model tag and the parts usually carry the Whirlpool name rather than Admiral.
Admiral washers are mostly simple top-loaders, and the calls follow suit: a lid switch or lid lock that halts the cycle, a drain pump jammed by a small item, worn agitator dogs, a motor coupler on older direct-drive units, and suspension that lets the tub slam on spin. The matching dryers come in for no heat, which is usually a thermal fuse, heating element or gas igniter, and for noise or a stopped drum, which usually means rollers, a belt or an idler. Each of these is a one-part repair once it is confirmed.
Admiral top-freezer refrigerators and freezers tend to fail in the defrost system first, showing up as a frosted back wall and a warm fresh-food section, followed by evaporator fan motors, start relays that click without starting the compressor, and tired door gaskets. Admiral dishwashers and ranges are less common in the area, but when they do come in it is normally a drain pump, a latch, a bake element or an oven igniter. The technician tests the suspect part before replacing it so you do not pay for a guess.
Admiral parts are Whirlpool parts. The part numbers on current models are the same ones used on the equivalent Whirlpool and Amana machines, which keeps them easy to source and usually in stock; a lid switch, belt, fuse or pump is often on the truck. Parts for the older Maytag-era Admiral units are a mixed picture, with some discontinued. The technician reads the full model number off the tag, confirms the part and quotes it in writing before ordering.
On Admiral top-load washers the model tag is normally under the lid on the rim of the cabinet or on the rear panel near the top. Dryers have it inside the door opening. Refrigerators put it on the inside wall of the fresh-food compartment, often up high on the left, and chest freezers on the outside of the cabinet. On a range it is under the cooktop or inside the drawer, and on a dishwasher on the door edge. Do not be surprised if the tag reads Whirlpool; that is the number we need.
Many Admiral machines use dial timers and show no code at all; where there is an electronic control it generally uses Whirlpool's F and E codes and blinking-light patterns. Codes vary by model, so note the exact code or the pattern of flashing lights and give it to us when booking. Our Whirlpool guides for washer codes and dryer codes show how the format works, and the technician checks the code against the service sheet for your model rather than relying on a generic list.
Because Whirlpool builds Admiral on its own platforms, the model tag, the control board and the parts inside often carry the Whirlpool name, and the model number may not look like an Admiral one. That is normal and makes service easier, since the parts and the service data are the same as for the Whirlpool version. Older Admiral appliances from before 2006 were a Maytag line; parts for them, where they still exist, also come through Whirlpool.
A clear brand, model number and symptom history help the technician separate a part failure from installation, use pattern or maintenance conditions.

Whirlpool Corporation makes Admiral appliances for the US market, where they are sold mainly through The Home Depot as budget laundry and refrigeration. Admiral was a Maytag brand that came to Whirlpool in 2006, and the tags and parts on current units usually say Whirlpool.
We repair out-of-warranty Admiral washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and ranges and ovens across DC, Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland. Appliance Surgeon is an independent repair company, so this is not factory warranty service.
Appliance Surgeon charges $75 for the diagnostic visit on a Admiral appliance, or $115 for a double unit (such as a double wall oven, washer-dryer combo or stacked laundry), and the fee is credited toward the repair if you approve the quote. For appliance repairs, labor starts at $200 and stays there on about 9 in 10 repairs; more complex jobs can reach $450. Parts are extra and listed in the quote. Typical price ranges by appliance are in our appliance repair cost guide.
If the route for the day has space we come the same day, and most Admiral repairs can be finished on that first visit because the common parts are on the truck. Next-day is the usual alternative. We are open 8 AM to 10 PM Monday to Saturday and 10 AM to 10 PM on Sunday.
Under the lid or on the back panel of a washer, inside the door of a dryer, on the inside wall of a refrigerator, on the outside of a chest freezer, under the cooktop or in the drawer of a range, and on the door edge of a dishwasher. The tag often reads Whirlpool; send a photo of it with the booking.
Give us the code, or describe the blinking-light pattern if the washer has no display, along with the appliance type. The technician uses it with the Whirlpool service data for the model to decide what to test first; it is a pointer, not a diagnosis on its own.
Factory warranty claims on an Admiral unit go to the manufacturer's authorised service network, and we are not part of that network. We handle repairs once the warranty has ended; if yours is still covered we can diagnose the fault and explain it so you know what to tell the manufacturer.
An Admiral is a budget machine, so the decision turns on what failed. A lid switch, belt, fuse, pump or thermostat is a modest repair and usually worth doing; a compressor or a sealed-system leak on a refrigerator usually is not. The technician tells you which case you are in after the diagnosis, with the full quote.
The technician confirms the part number from the model tag, checks whether it is still available, and gives you the part and its timing in the written quote. Ordering waits for your approval, and we return to fit it when it arrives. If an older part is discontinued we tell you straight away.
Every Appliance Surgeon repair is covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and labor, starting the day the repair is finished. The technician explains the terms before the job is complete.
